I was craving beef and my friend recommended Gyu-Kaku as an alternative to the American steakhouse. We went with a fixed menu that included fried chicken, beef sushi, miso soup, salad, 6 varieties of beef and s'mores! The fried chicken was simply amazing! Lightly breaded and fried to crispy perfection. The salad was also very good. We loved the vinaigrette. The six different varieties of beef were all good, but I preferred the ones that were marinated. The wait staff were very efficient. Our water glasses were never low and our beers were quickly replaced with new cold drafts. It was a bit warm as everyone has a grill at their table, but it wasn't unbearable. Great place. Will definitely be back!
Fun place! I came here on an evening with my bosses. Everyone had a good time. We had the AYCE option. Supreme option. It was $80 before tips and tax. The meats were good. Portioned out very well. Large variety of apps and drinks. Servers were very attentive. Enjoyed this location a lot.
Came here for my birthday. I did not know what to expect, but the service and the food and the drinks exceeded my expectations. The ambience is nice. I think today because it was raining. It added a little calmness but I was with someone who was really amazing so it was a really great experience. MAIVERICK was the most amaaaazing server. Definitely coming back!!!
Food: 4 stars Cook your own (nicely marinated) dead animal. 'Nuff said. Ambiance: 4 stars It can get a bit loud and difficult to have a convo, but that kind of adds to the atmosphere. Bonus points to snag a table by a window smugly looking down at the hustle of 3rd Ave. Service: 5 stars Our server Hira was spot on. Attentive, friendly, and always checking in on us to make sure we still have our eyebrows.
This was was amazing and or waiter Hira even better!! Super quick and attentive!! Thank you Hira!!
I LOVE this place. The meat is especially good and the service is fast. We did all-you-can-eat and the gyoza and all the cuts were pretty good. Normally I love spice marinade but the best ones were the non-spicy ones. The service is great as well! Whoever created stores post-dinner was honestly such a clever individual. The matcha ice cream is also so good but it's manufactured. I want to go back!!
Gyu Kaku has always been a clutch, go-to spot for us. For either work events, happy hour, or family gatherings. Our server Maiverick was great and really attentive with our service. Their happy hour is great and is a super value. The setting of this location on 3rd Ave and 49th is really nice because it's like a greenhouse with huge windows. Would suggest it if you're in the area
So this chain has been around and I'm not sure what took me so long to try it out but I finally did. I'm glad I did. This location is actually on the 2nd floor and it's decent sized and nicely laid out. You check in with the hostess and I definitely suggest making a reservation. They can get very busy. There's a bar as well if you want to have to some drinks while you wait or maybe just drinks. You are also greeted by almost everyone there once you get seated. Great ambiance. Most of the seats are booths and they can accommodate larger parties as they have partitions that move in between some of the booths. First timers will get the run down from the server. Each table has its own grill and you can order all kinds of beef, pork and chicken and even vegetables to cook. They also have plenty of side dishes as well. I think they have ramen on the menu as well though I've only ever had the meats and sides. The sides usually come out first and everyone has their own tongs. They give you suggestions how long to cook each meat as well which are pretty accurate. The servers change out the grill top too during so that's a nice touch as well. The desserts are marshmallows, chocolate and graham cookies so you can make your own s'mores. The servers are all very nice and they remembered us on our 2nd visit here. They view here is awesome as well as they have all picture windows including parts of the ceiling. The ventilation system is also very good and you don't come out smelling like bbq smoke. Dont forget to sign up for their rewards program as well. One of my new favorite places to eat!
Came here last week with my coworkers for an end of the year dinner, and it was amazing! It was my first time trying Japanese BBQ, so this is the place they suggested we go to. We got the Yakiniku Party for 4 people. We really got our moneys worth because it came with a ton of food and we even had some left over. It came with several starters and different BBQ items, including meats, chicken and shrimp. We also got a s'mores dessert at the end, which was a nice touch. All the food was honestly amazing, and it was a fun experience since we were able to cook all the BBQ items ourselves! I especially loved the gyu sushi, short rib, and hanger steak. Everything was seasoned perfectly, and they had a couple dipping sauces on the side that you can try. I also got the mango mojito, which was delicious. Overall we had a great time here, and I would go back in a heartbeat!
